Wondering why you have 2 flashing red lights on Xbox 360? Your not alone! This problem is much more common than you think, as thousands of Xbox 360 gamers have experienced exactly the same thing. Does this mean that you need to get a new Xbox 360? Not necessarily, in fact that should be the last resort!

There are several reasons why your Xbox 360 is flashing red lights at you and here are some of them.

1. The location of your console needs to be changed. If it is in a confined space then it may be struggling to 'breathe' properly! In other words, if there is not plenty of room all around your console then the air flow going into it may be restricted and this can lead to overheating. It is also important not to cover the console with any materials that will restrict the air flow. Also, don't place your console on a carpet, always use a hard cool surface, and never rest your feet on your Xbox 360!

2. Dust and smoke could be the problem! Apart from proper ventilation, the Xbox 360, like any other electrical device doesn't react too well to dust or smoke. If the room that the Xbox 360 is located in gets a lot of dust, or people smoke cigarettes in that room, then this will cause the console to overheat as dust can act as a thermal blanket inside your console which will prevent proper cooling. The tar from cigarette smoke just compounds the problem as it will stick to the internal components and also cause overheating to occur.

3. Playing games for hours on end could cause your Xbox 360 to overheat! It is very sad to think that playing games for extended periods of time should cause problems on a 7th generation gaming console, but unfortunately, with the Xbox 360, it does! Your console may also overheat when you play certain graphic intensive games that have no loading screens such as GTA IV! It seems that the Xbox 360 just cannot cope properly when these games are played.
